Something's In The Water

Over the past few months, 2 of my co-workers got engaged. That might not seem like a big deal to some, but I work in a very small company and the two girls who got engaged are the only two other people in my department so it's a little unusual. I'm loving it because I get to continue on the wedding high and help them out/give my advice wherever I can.

One of the girls (a close friend of mine who came to my wedding and got engaged the day after!) asked my help in putting together inspiration boards for her upcoming wedding next March. She's between two venues, one very modern South Beachy brand new hotel on the beach, and the other more rustic, warm, elegant venue on Long Island. Her colors are a range of blues from dark navy to lighter washed seaglass shades mixed with pewter & metal accents.

I put together three boards, one for each of the possible venues and another for her attire.

Rustic Romance

I had so much fun putting these boards together! It's something I love to do but I had to take some time off from doing them over the past few months. My friends are telling me that I should start a little side business creating inspiration boards for people and I'm seriously considering it. If you or anyone you know is interested in a custom inspiration board for an event, just let me know!

We're leaning towards the first board, the South Beachy hotel, but the second board for her other venue is a strong contender. She's visting the venues over the next few weekends so a decision should be made by mid October. Can't wait to see what she chooses so I can continue to help with the planning!

Our Wedding - City Shots

After we got ready, J & I hopped into a town car with our photographer & headed on over to Central Park for some outdoor shots. What an experience! Just image two brides running through a very crowded Central Park on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. I have to say, we really did stop traffic, both foot & automobile! Everyone was really nice offering many good wishes along the way. God, I just love NY!

Our Wedding - Getting Ready Video

And here's a lil video of the morning's festivities. We purchased the Flip Ultra HD Video Camera about a week before the wedding because I was having a panic attack that we didn't have a videographer.

All I can say is Best. Purchase. EVER!!!! Just amazing. It's so easy to use, portable & the quality is amazing! It's seriously the best $160 I ever spent. I got it on sale at Amazon :)

Our Wedding - Getting Ready

Well I didn't want to keep you waiting thaaat long, a tease I am not ;), so here we go. Although I already shared with you some of the details of the morning of, I wanted to show you some of Daniel's images. He captured the moments perfectly.

As I mentioned earlier, I was thrilled to be able to book the makeup artist that did my sister Lisa's wedding last year. Erica was a pleasure to work with and her work is impeccable. She was able to create the perfect look for everyone right there the day of. Nobody even had a trial with her! I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a makeup artist in the NY area. And an added bonus is that she is extremely reasonable price-wise. She's truly a bride's dream!

The mood was upbeat yet relaxed. We played music, drank champagne, worked out with our hand weights that we brought from home and just had a great time. The only snafu of the morning was that my brother in law & my sister Krissy's boyfriend went out to pick up some food, a grilled cheese for Krissy, and some more champagne, but they didn't come back for hours. Guess they got lost in the NYC excitement! Come to think of it, we still don't know where they went or why it took them so long!

My step-mother Lissa pumping it up

Our friends Court & Nat resting before go time

After makeup was done, J & I went on to the bridal suite next door to get dressed. We choose to get ready together. We knew it would be such an intimate moment and we didn't want to miss out on sharing that experience together.

So much more to come!

Honeymoon Part Deux!

We're in the process of booking our second honeymoon. As I mentioned a few months ago, we planned on taking a longer, more adventurous honeymoon sometime around the US Thanksgiving holiday.

Well after much consideration we finally decided to go to London and Amsterdam. We went to London once before 13 years ago (wow I can't believe it's actually been that long!) for our honeymoon after our commitment ceremony. We've been dying to go back for years so we decided it would be the perfect place to go. We have such great romantic memories of the city and listen, I'm not gonna lie, I cannot wait to shop there!!!

After a few days in London, we're going to take a quick flight on over to Amsterdam. We've never been so we're really excited to go.

The flights are booked, now we're just working on hotels. I'd appreciate any recommendations you guys may have. Thanks!!!

Wedding Pix In!

We're so excited! Yesterday we received our wedding photos from our amazing photographer Daniel Krieger. We're beyond thrilled!

I'm in the process of organizing all of them so I can finally get back to my recaps. Sorry I took a little break from that for a while. I just thought it would be better to wait for the professional photos rather than use the amateur ones we have.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!

Fall Fashion Fixes

Ever since we got married, I've been on a bit of a shopping spree. I was so wedding focused & restrained for so many months that I guess it was bound to happen.

It first started on our honeymoon in Montreal, one of my all time favorite shopping cities. Before we even checked into our hotel, the super sexy W, we made a stop at Abe & Mary's, which is basically the Kitson of Montreal. Needless to say, my shopping urge was instantly woken! Even though I fell in love with numerous items, I showed what I consider to be admirable restraint, and only bought one item. A gorgeous eggplant strapless satin dress which I wore to my cousin's wedding this past weekend.

The next day we headed on over to Boul. St-Laurent and I picked up a few other things that I had to have, a striped cardi, a fringed ivory short sleeve bolero and a few other staples that I needed. Still not so bad. I definitely didn't go overboard.

Fringed bolero in Ivory

Well things kinda changed once I got back from my honeymoon. My shopping urge kicked into overdrive. I mean, who can blame me with NY Fashion Week being in town and no wedding to distract me, right? Fashion was in the air!

But I've still been pretty good, sticking mostly to H&M, Zara and Urban Outfitters and the like. I haven't ventured into Topshop yet because I'm kinda scared of what might happen. It's tempting me though....

Here are a few of the things I've picked up recently:

Silence & Noise motorcycle jacket

UO Patterned scarf

Alfani Cassy Pump

And this one I can't quite believe I purchased. I couldn't help it though. They were hot & less than $20! I figured I could wear them with some skirts & long cardis and jackets that I have.

H&M sequined leggins

Now I know I'm not the only one who loves to shop during the fall. There's just something about the lux fabrics, colors, shoes, to die for boots & accessories that makes me drool. So what are some of your latest fall purchases?
