Summer Fever

Image: found here

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a lovely weekend. We had an amazing one! We spent the entire time outdoors enjoying the summer weather in NYC. It actually felt like we were on vacation but we were in our own city. I just love it when that happens! :)

We didn't make much wedding progress since, like I said, we were outside most of the time, but we did manage to pick up a few hair pieces at Forever 21 which are absolutely adorable and so so cheap! They probably won't be the ones we actually use at the wedding, but they're something to play around with for now for hair trials and such.

As for wedding progress, some things actually did get accomplished over the past few weeks. Hotel blocks are secured and most of our girls got their dresses! I was so surprised and impressed that they took it upon themselves to do it without our help. We chose the color, wine, and let everyone pick their own dress style. And they all did a great job! Now only our niece, Maggie and our flower girl, Ally are the only others who still need to get dresses.

And yesterday we put down a deposit on the flowers. I can't wait to finally see them since the sketches are absolutely gorgeous! But I'll share more about the flowers in a future post.

I feel good about those things but there's still a lot more to do and we're really getting behind on our task timeline. First off we need to schedule a meeting with our planners to touch base because I don't think that we can make anymore progress without discussing some things with them. Some of the more pressing tasks are that we have to schedule hair & makeup trials and we need to start invitation shopping ASAP since we have to purchase them next month.

All of this is really exciting yet nerve-wracking at the same time. I can't believe we only have a little over 4 months left. We're starting to have those wedding anxiety dreams again but I know we'll start to feel better once we get back on track. The summer weather has inspired us and also kicked us into high gear. So it's official. As of today we're back on the diet, exercise and planning wagon. Nothin can hold us back now!

My Favorite Wedding Of All Time!

Today I am highlighting my sister's wedding in honor of her one year anniversary. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect Spring day. The whole wedding day suited their personalities perfectly from the beach house we stayed at in the Hamptons, to their personalized and super touching vows, to their grand entrance to house music that kept pumping all night making you feel like you were in the hottest NYC club. Happy Anniversary guys! Love you! xoxo

Reaching Up For The Sun

Well, it certainly has been quite a week. We're finally starting to get back to a little bit of normalcy, whatever that may be. Thankfully we're back in our apartment...We had been living in a hotel since last week so it was really nice get to sleep in our own bed. And yesterday I headed back to work which was good I guess but I'm definitely looking forward to having a few days off to regroup and recharge. Luckily this weekend is supposed to be gorgeous with summer-like temperatures so I'm definitely going to get out to enjoy the sunshine.

In addition to some much needed fun in the sun we're gonna try to make some progress on the wedding planning this weekend. Things have been so crazy lately that we actually totally forgot that we had a meeting with our wedding planners Wednesday. Needless to say, we were pretty embarrassed about that!

Anyway, I'm glad to finally be back and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Forever By Our Side

Our best friend Antoinette lost her brave battle with breast cancer last night. We are heartbroken but I am thankful that she is finally at peace. We will never ever forget the vibrant, loving, caring, fun-loving woman she was. Her legacy will live on forever in our hearts and in her six year old daughter Alexandra. May you rest in peace, my love.

Time passes by, direction unknown.
You've left us now but we're not alone.
Before you know it, your cup's over flown.
You measure no one that I've ever known.

And it's quite alright
And goodbye for now
Just look up to the stars
And believe who you are
'Cause it's quite alright
And so long, goodbye

We always knew that it'd come to this,
It's times like these I forget what I miss.
Matters of heart are hard to address,
Especially when yours is full of emptiness.
And it's quite alright, and goodbye for now.

Just look up to the stars and believe who you are,
'Cause it's quite alright
And so long, goodbye.

Strange Happenings

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Sorry for getting such a late start. I've been wrapped up in a pretty exciting, albeit strange project today.

A few weeks ago I was approached by ReadyMade magazine to appear in a feature for them called HDYGTFAJ (How did you get that f^&*ing awesome job?). So today the extremely talented photographer Quentin Bacon came to my office to photograph me for the feature. Strange and exciting, yet terrifying at the same time. Anyway, I'm happy to say that it's over and I think it went pretty well. Can't wait to see what they come up with and I pray they retouch!

Come on NY!

We've really been dragging our feet about a pretty important wedding task. Making our upcoming marriage legal. Kinda important, don't ya think?

As I mentioned in the past, originally we were going to do it in Toronto this past Friday. We also considered Massachusetts and even took a trip up to Boston last September to search venues and get more information but we weren't in love with the idea. It could be because it poured the entire time we were up there so poor Boston was tainted in our minds even though we love it there. So we eventually ended up settling on CT, but we really haven't made any plans whatesoever regarding the civil ceremony. People keep asking us when, where, etc but we're not really motivated to commit to anything because we're holding out hoping & praying that NY makes it legal by the time we get married in September.

Now it looks like it really could be a possibility. Govenor Paterson said Wednesday he plans to re-introduce legislation to make same-sex marriage legal in New York. It's not a sure thing unfortunately. Even though the state Assembly passed the marriage equality bill in 2007, we still need for the Senate to pass it. They're still a few votes shy for passage but hopefully this will help push the agenda and the votes can be secured. You can read more about it here.

I'm not giving up hope. Come on NY! You can do it!
