Casual Friday

Good morning, loves!  And happy Friday to you all.  So happy that the weekend is finally here.

I'm off today just planning on taking it easy and staying in, catching up on some reading and awaiting Js return very late this evening.

Not quite sure what I'm doing this weekend.  Might head on out to the beach house or maybe a drive up north or maybe we'll just have a weekend in the city.  All depends on our mood when we wake up tomorrow.  Either way I'll be happy to have J back home.

Everlasting Love

Good morning, loves!  And happy Thursday to you all.

I have to apologize in advance for the rather sappy post today.  Just feeling terribly romantic and lonely for my love.  We've been together for so long now...since we were wee babies it seems...that any time apart is usually a bit difficult.  And this trip seems particularly long because of the length and also the time difference making it difficult to communicate.

Remembering back to our teenage days, way before email or texting, when we used to send each other love letters.  We still have a huge box stuffed with our correspondence from way back when.  It was so romantic and everlasting.

Tonight as I sit home along missing J like crazy perhaps I'll open that box to reminisce a bit.  Although I'm pretty sure, 26 years later, that the longing to be together today is at least the same as back then, if not greater.  And I know I'm so incredibly lucky to feel this way and to have this love.  Still, to this day, my heart skips a beat whenever I see Js name in my inbox or hear Js ring on my phone.  It's quite silly really.  As if I'm a teenager in love.

Back then I remember all we wanted to do is run away and get married and spend forever together.  It seemed like an impossibility in those days but we were fortunate enough to make it a reality.  It's like I'm living this amazing dream and sometimes I have to pinch myself to remind myself that it's real.

So there you have it.  My outpouring of sappiness and love today.  Sorry if it was unbearable but you can't say I didn't warn you ;)

Pamper Me Pretty

Happy mid-week, loves!  Can't believe it's actually Wednesday already.  I thought it was going to be a very long week but luckily that doesn't seem to be the case.  I'm managing to keep myself occupied thanks to you. :)

When I mentioned on Monday that J would be away for the week quite a few of you said to take this time to be really girlie and pamper myself.  I have to admit that's not too much of a stretch for me.  I'm quite the girlie girl...I mean I work in the beauty industry so I'm sure you can imagine one doesn't have to twist my arm to covince me to do a little extra primping.

Think tonight's the perfect night for a stop at the salon for a spa mani/pedi and massage.  Then I'll head on home, poor myself a glass of vino and really take the pampering up a notch.

I'll start by indulging in a couple of masks, one for face & one for hair.  For hair I love Fekkai's Shea Butter Hair Mask and for face my absolute favorite is Givenchy Black For Light Mask.  It's the coolest texture ever and it does wonders for my skin.  My other favorite standby face mask is Fresh's Sugar Face Polish.  It smells divine and I love that my skin get's a double dose beauty treatment.  A great exfoliation and super nourishing treatment in one. Not quite sure which one I'll go with.  I'll just decide on the fly.

And after all that primping I think the perfect way to end the evening is with a long, super soothing, relaxing bath.  Sounds heavenly, doesn't it? Ah 5pm can't come quick enough!

Time To Ponder

Good morning, loves.  Hope your week is off to a wonderful start. 

As I mentioned yesterday, J is away all week on a business trip and I'm left with alot of time to ponder.  It's been a busy time as of late. A lot of good, beach weekends, vacation, birthday celebrations. And some bad, a long illness that took a lot out of me.  But things are starting to calm down and I'm now faced with the realization that I just hit a major milestone in my life.  I know 40 is just a number.  I don't feel old, and I don't even think that 40 is old.  But I'm suddenly feeling the need to step back and evaluate my life.  Where I am and where I'd like to be. 

I'm very fortunate.  I have a wonderful life. I'm loved more than I can even really understand. I have an amazing job.  A wonderful family.  And I live very comfortably. I travel and really get to do whatever I want, whenever I want.  I don't have things to tie me down. 

But there are things that I thought I would have at this point in my life that I don't have.  I thought I'd have children, I thought I'd own a home.  But as I said, I don't really have things to tie me down and because of those things I'm able to live the life I do.  A part of me wishes things were different but I am extremely happy with the life I have and I choose to live my life with no regrets.

That being said, I'm thinking of putting some things down on paper.  Things I'd like to accomplish and experience in my life.  I guess it's a sort of bucket list but I don't want to be morbid about it.  I can't really make a 40 by 40 list because that seems to have passed me by.  And I don't want to do a 50 by 50 list because that's way too far off.  Maybe I'll just make a list of goals for the short term and see how it goes. 

Let's see where this week of alone time gets me.  Look at me being all reflective. Js gonna wonder what on earth happened to me!  I promise to share the list once it's complete.

Monday Mornings

Good morning, loves! Happy Monday and welcome to a brand new week! Hope you all have a fabulous weekend.

It was my first non beach weekend in 2 1/2 months and do you wanna know what? I really did enjoy it. There is life off of Fire Island after all :)

But of course it really did go a bit too quickly for my taste though. And now J is headed out of town for 5 days so I have a feeling this is going to be a long lonely week. At least I have all of you to keep me company though :)

Fun In The Sun Weekend

Happy Friday, loves! We made it!  Any fun plans on tap for the weekend?

As I mentioned yesterday, this weekend will be my first weekend since the middle of May that I'm not at the beach.  And I'm really looking forward to a weekend to take advantage of summers other pleasures.  And all of those things involved being outdoors.  A LOT!  Planning on mixing it up with some fun in the city and also some fun outside the city with family and friends.

Summer Secret

Good morning, loves!  The weekend's just around the corner and this weekend is the first weekend all summer that won't involve any beach time.  And you wanna know a secret?  I'm kinda happy about it.

If you've been reading this space even a little bit this summer you're probably pretty familiar with the fact that I'm a beach girl at heart.  Sun, sand and surf.  It really gets no better than that.  But there are other parts of the summer that I love to experience and this is the first summer in a long time that I haven't had a chance to take part in any of that.

So this weekend I'm making it a point to squeeze in a a summer stroll with J somewhere lush.  Maybe some gardens somewhere out on Long Island or maybe even some time in Central Park.  The sand and surf can wait till next weekend. :)

Wednesday Wishes

Hi loves!  And happy August to you! Is it me or is summer suddenly starting to fly by?

Can't believe Wednesday's already here.  I've actually been having quite the strange week.  Not sure if it's going extremely fast or painfully slow.  And I'm really not sure what that says about my mental state being that they're opposite ends of the spectrum.  Guess it just means that I'm not adjusting well to post vacation life :)

Still having computer issues, that's why I haven't been by yet.  And pretty swamped at work.  Wishing today that I could have a day at home to sip some champagne, nibble on some macarons and basically catch up on life.  Good news is the weekend's not that far now.  At least I don't think it is...{that's the confused state talking :)}

Easing Back

Good morning, loves!  Hope your week is off to a wonderful start. 

I'm getting back into the groove of things, work, life and such and still sporting some of that vacation glow.  Unfortunately computer issues are preventing me from being back at full speed.  Kinda frustrating especially since I've missed this lovely world so much. I won't even go into how long it took to put together this post...

Back From Bliss

Hi loves!  I'm finally back from paradise.  J took me on the most amazing trip to the Bahamas for my 40th birthday.  If you follow me on Twitter and Instagram you would have seen me posting up a storm but for those of you who don't here's a little snapshot of what I experienced over the past week.
