Crushing News

Today the New York State Senate voted against legalizing same sex marriage by a vote of 38 to 24. I'm having a hard time putting into words the emotions that I am feeling. It's completely devastating that our lawmakers would reject a bill thats sole purpose is to treat all New Yorkers equally. We're not asking for special treatment, just for equality.

I'm deeply saddened and basically speechless :(

The Excitement Keeps Building!

The past 24 hours have been so exciting for me! It started off with my lunch shoe shopping excursion yesterday. I headed over to Cole Haan and tried on the Ceci Air Rose Sling. It was pretty comfortable but not as comfy as I was expecting considering it's NIKE AIR technology. And to top it off, it only came in white so I'd have to dye it to match my dress. I eventually decided to pass on them.

Then...now here's the exciting news...I headed on over to Jimmy Choo and low and behold I found them! The Champagne Glitter Mary Janes! I fell in love when I saw them on the shelf but once I tried them on!...I was more excited than when I found my dress! What do you guys think?

I still have the Martinez Valeros on the way but I think I'm really sold on the Jimmys. Besides being gorgeous and versatile, i'll definitely wear them after the wedding, they're super unbelievably comfortable!

To top off all the excitement yesterday, we ended up booking our legal ceremony in Connecticut. It's all set for June 27th, only 16 days from now! I can't believe that I'm going to be a married woman so soon! We don't want to take anything away from the big day on Septemeber 6th so we decided to keep it simple and low key. Just the two of us and a Justice of the Peace most likely under some gazebo somewhere in CT. I just can't believe that after 23 years of being together that we're finally going to be legally married! It's so hard to believe that it's all really happening. I feel like the luckiest girl alive :)

Next up...cake tasting!

One Step Closer!

Sorry for the late post today. I started the day giving an 8am breakfast training of the Wholearth product line at the Rockefeller Center Anthropologie store and my day hasn't slowed down since! By the way, I have to mention that it was nearly impossible to control myself being in that store before regular business hours. Can anyone say PARADISE?!?!

I just have a second but I wanted to say how excited I am about the NY State Assembly passing the Marrigae Equality Bill last night! One house down, one more to go!

On another note, invitation shopping was very exciting last night. We were at Bloomies for over 2 hours! I'm happy to say that we've definitely narrowed down our search...we're just waiting for a few more paper options to come in from the designer. Once the swatches come in we'll finalize the design and hopefully we'll end up placing the order by the weekend. I can't believe how difficult this has been! I'm thilled to announce that the invitations will have a couple of aquamarine crystals so needless to say I'm a happy girl. Thank you darling for giving in :)

I'll be back soon with more details about the invitations and the never ending shoe search.

Come on NY!

We've really been dragging our feet about a pretty important wedding task. Making our upcoming marriage legal. Kinda important, don't ya think?

As I mentioned in the past, originally we were going to do it in Toronto this past Friday. We also considered Massachusetts and even took a trip up to Boston last September to search venues and get more information but we weren't in love with the idea. It could be because it poured the entire time we were up there so poor Boston was tainted in our minds even though we love it there. So we eventually ended up settling on CT, but we really haven't made any plans whatesoever regarding the civil ceremony. People keep asking us when, where, etc but we're not really motivated to commit to anything because we're holding out hoping & praying that NY makes it legal by the time we get married in September.

Now it looks like it really could be a possibility. Govenor Paterson said Wednesday he plans to re-introduce legislation to make same-sex marriage legal in New York. It's not a sure thing unfortunately. Even though the state Assembly passed the marriage equality bill in 2007, we still need for the Senate to pass it. They're still a few votes shy for passage but hopefully this will help push the agenda and the votes can be secured. You can read more about it here.

I'm not giving up hope. Come on NY! You can do it!

Keep 'em Comin!

Wow, what a week! I am beyond thrilled that Iowa and now Vermont have made same-sex marriage legal!!! Seems like we're on a roll here. I can only hope that other states quickly follow to extend equal rights to all people. Now come on New York, you can do it!!!
