Sunny Start

nullnullnull

Good morning, loves! And welcome to a brand new week.

Waking up after a fabulous weekend. And in such great spirits. The weather has been amazing. The days are getting longer and I feel like spring is just around the corner. I can just about smell the fresh blooms filling the air.

This weekend was all about great times with friends which ended with our Oscar party last night. We didn't end up seeing all of the best picture nominees but we saw the majority and in the end in didn't really matter. We'll catch up eventually. Was really happy that The Artist won best picture. I loved that movie and was so utterly charmed by it. And I'm heading to see Hugo this week. :)

Did you watch the Oscars?

Wishing you all an amazing week filled with lots of happiness!

xoxo

And The Oscar Goes To...

nullnullnullnullnull

Good morning, loves! And happy Friday! What do you all have on tap this weekend? Oscar parties anyone? Can't wait to get all glammed up to watch the show with our friends on Sunday night. Oh and of course I can't wait to see the arrivals. That's really my favorite part. :)

Before then, I'll be on overdrive trying to see all of the Oscar best picture nominees before the awards. Unfortunately our big pact/challenge might not be achieved. Despite having carefully planned it all out {and I'm talking seriously planning. A calendar and chart to coordinate the schedules of 4 participants}, we still haven't seen them all.

Some movies went out of theaters or were playing at inconvenient times {yes War Horse I'm talking about you. Only 12pm & 3pm showtimes during the work week? Don't people have jobs???} So we'll see how it goes. I'm going to do my best to try to squeeze in the remaining three before the show.

Here's how things stand as of now:

Best Picture Movies Seen
The Artist
The Descendants
Midnight in Paris
The Help
The Tree of Life
Moneyball
{Also saw My Week With Marilyn, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo & Bridesmaids which have nominess up for Actress in a Leading Role and Actress in a Supporting Role.}

Best Picture Movies Yet to See
Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close
Hugo
War Horse

It's a pretty big challenge since I'm busy tonight, tomorrow during the day and tomorrow evening. So that only leaves Sunday day. Not looking promising but wish me luck! :)

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Is anyone else going to be glued to the television like me?

xoxo

You Outta See The Pictures

nullnullnull

Good morning, sweets! Hope your week is off to a great start.

Mine certainly has been. Got to meet up with my favorite girl Shari last night while she's in town on a short visit. And also, tonight I'm off to watch The Artist with friends.

For the past few years J & I have had a pact/challenge with our friends to see all of the Oscar nominees for Best Picture. And, if there's any extra time, we try to catch all of the other nominations. {Wishful thinking as that has never been a reality...}

I really had my work cut out for me this year because I hadn't seen many at the time the nominations were announced. I'm starting to make a dent though. Here's how the playing field stands.

Best Picture Movies Seen
Midnight in Paris
The Help
Moneyball
{Also saw The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo & Bridesmaids which have nominess up for Actress in a Leading Role and Actress in a Supporting Role.}

Best Picture Movies Yet to See
The Artist {after tonight this will be a check!}
The Descendants
Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close
Hugo
The Tree of Life
Warhorse

So as you can see, I have quite the challenge in front of me. 6 movies in less than 3 weeks. And I'd like to squeeze in My Week With Marilyn and The Iron Lady as well. Wish me luck!

How about you all? Which nominated movies have you seen this year? Are you going to try to catch them all before the Oscars?

Good Monday morning, lovelies! How was your weekend? Mine was great. Filled with lots of relaxation and then the Oscars last night ended the weekend on a perfect note. And I was thrilled because all of my favorites won...The King's Speech, Melissa Leo, Christian Bale, Natalie Portman and my ultimate favorite actor Colin Firth. That never happens :)

Of course I'm a little bit tired today because I stayed up late but it was well worth it. Mornings like this call for a little sweetness and lot of caffeine. The perfect way to ease into the week ahead.

How about all of you? How was your weekend? Did you watch the Oscars? What did you think?

Taking It Easy...

Happy Friday, lovelies! What do you all have on tap this weekend? Mine? Well it's basically going to be a lazy one. Lots of sleeping, pampering & lounging while counting down to the grand finale, The Academy Awards, on Sunday night.

I can't wait for them this year! And it's for reasons other than style stalking, although I will definitely be tuning in for that as well. We made a pact with some friends to see every film up for Best Picture and we actually did it! I just squeezed in the last one, Winter's Bone, last night. Overall I think my favorite is The King's Speech but I did also love The Fighter. It's a close second in my mind.

How bout you guys? Did you catch all the Best Picture nominees? What was your favorite? Are you going to be tuning into the Oscars on Sunday night?

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend! xoxo

And The Winner Is...

I have to say, this year I was pretty impressed with the majority of the starlets on the red carpet. Some took chaces, some played it a bit safe, but I think for the most part everyone looked pretty damn good. But there have to be winners and loosers, right? That's the name of the game. So in that vain, here are my picks for best & worst dressed at last nights Oscars.

The Winners

Diane Kruger in Chanel Couture

I know this has gotten mixed reviews so far but I've been in love with this dress since the first time I laid eyes on it last summer. And nobody wears Chanel like Diane does.

This woman apparently has sold her soul to the Devil. Or is taking some magic youth potion. She was absolutely stunning in this ruffled silk organza Versace gown.

Sandra Bullock in Marchese

Sandra won all around last night in this metallic & lace Marchese gown. And I loved her hair and makeup.

Rachel McAdams in Elie Saab Haute Couture

She took a chance in this romatic print dress and in my book she was a clear winner. The swirling blue, pink and green print was mesmerizing. And I loved her rose-cut diamond pendant earrings.

Anna Kendrick in Elie Saab Couture

She was simply stunning in this soft pink off-the shoulder draped gown.

Honorable Mentions

Queen Latifah in Badgley Mischka

She keeps getting better and better doesn't she? I thought she looked ravishing in this one shoulder, bead-embellished lavender satin mermaid gown.

SJP in Chanel Couture

I know this one has gotten mixed reviews too but I loved it. Reminded me of a photo of my grandmother at a wedding in the 60s. Loved the whole thing, the gown, the hair & the makeup.

Cameron Diaz in Oscar de la Renta

I'm not usually a big fan, but I thought she looked pretty good in this glittering champagne tulle gown.

Miley Cyrus in Jenny Packham

She looked pretty in this strapless champagne hand-beaded gown.

Penelope Cruz in Donna Karan

Loved the color (it was one of my wedding colors :)) and she always looks gorgeous.

Jennifer Lopez in Armani Prive

Interesting cut...the crescent-shaped bustier cascaded into a dramatic side train. And I liked the iridescent pink color.

Amanda Seyfried in Armani Prive

I love the dress but sort of wish she choose a different color. I've been back and forth on this one since I watched the arrivals last night....

Kate Winslet in Yves Saint Laurent

She's gorgeous and looked great but I kinda wish she took more of a chance.

Meryl Streep in Chris March

She looked amazing! And I love how she went with this Project Runway alumn.

Kristen Stewart in Monique Lhuillier.

She looked good but played it safe with the staple goth color.

Tina Fey in Michael Kors

I thought she rocked this sexy beaded black leopard print, one-shoulder gown.

Carey Mulligan in Prada

Simply adorable! I love how she went for this whimsical Prada gown embellished with Swarovski crystal flowers as well as tiny forks, knives, scissors and other charms.

Nicole Richie in Reem Acra

One of my early favorites, she rocked her signature vintage look in Reem Acra's multi-colored sequined gown.

The Losers

Zoe Saldana in Givenchy

I loved many aspects about this...I love how she took the risk, I love the sparkling bodice but the purple ombre sculptured tulle skirt was too much.

Vera Farmiga in Marchesa

I sort of liked this at first glance. She was a standout on the red carpet...I loved the color but as I watched her sit in the front row I thought the ruffled fuchsia gown was a bit much. I also didn't like her choice of red lipstick color with the gown.

Maggie Gyllenhaal in Dries Van Noten

Again, I liked that she took a rish in the color and print but I didn't think it was special enough. I could see someone wearing this to a summer wedding....

Charlize Theron in Christian Dior.

Seriously? Those cinnamon bun boobs? No. Color was gorgeous...love the two-tone lilac but it could have been a winner if not for the baked goods on top.

So what did you guys think? Who were your winners and loosers?

Rise & Shine!

Morning lovelies. Time to shake that stardust off from the night before and start a brand new week.

It was an exciting weekend all around for me. The weather was phenomenal, we celebrated our 6 month anniversary on Saturday and then spent an amazing day strolling around the city yesterday and finally capped off the weekend with the glam & glitz of the Oscars last night.

Who else watched the Oscars? I was glued to the TV the entire night and I'll be back later on today with a little red carpet recap.

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!
