The Cat's Meow

I've never been very much of a cat fan. Not sure why...maybe cause I grew up with dogs and I always been more partial to the warmer, more "I love you no matter what" nature of dogs. They're always excited to see you, want to be played with and are just so loving. Compare that to the I could take you or leave you, or better yet, "why do you insist on boring me with your presence?" attitude of a lot of cats. The choice was an easy one in my book.

In fact, my friend's cat scratched my leg all up last week at our Cinco de Mayo fete and I'm still feeling the effects of the attack. OK well maybe that's a bit dramatic. It doesn't really hurt anymore but there was a huge amount of blood pouring down my leg after the event. Vi.cious!!!

In any case, I think I'm going to put my feelings aside and give cats another chance. It's not their fault that they're solitary creatures and I'm a love me, love me, love me type of girl. Sammy & Trooper (my friend's cats) I love you just the way you are. Get used to seeing a lot more of me in the future :)

New Addition to the Family

Our beloved beta fish Komi passed about a month ago and we were really sad. We had him since last April, when he was part of the centerpiece at our table at my sister's wedding. Even though Komi's irreplaceable, today we got another Japanese fighting fish to fill the void that he left. We named him Parker after our upcoming wedding venue. He joins our African dwarf frog (Jen's allergic to animals or else we would consider more traditional pets) in our family. We consider ourselves the Jolie-Pitts of the aquatic world :)
