Q&A with Daniel Krieger

Later on today I will finally get to share our e-session photos with you!

Before I post them I wanted to give you a sneak peak of our some of photographer, Daniel Krieger's, work. Isn't he fantastic? You can see why J & I needed to book him!

And lucky for me, Daniel was kind enough to answer a few questions for me to share with you.

What sparked your interest in photography?
I used to live in Washington Heights when I first moved into the city and I would walk around with my 35mm camera just taking photos of everything around me. I was limited though because developing film was expensive and I just had my first job out of college...didn't have a lot of disposable income at the time so I couldn't really delve into it..once I got a digital camera that all changed.

What do you love about taking photos?
I love the moment when you know you've just captured something special, something that will be an everlasting image for you or for someone.. being able to make people smile or just say, "Hey I really like what you did there" is a great feeling.

What do you wear when photographing a wedding?
A clown suit... No wait just that one time. I wear black pants and a button down shirt. I don't do all black because I think you look terribly cheesy.

What other areas other than wedding photography do you specialize in?
I do a lot of freelance food and interior photography, also a bit of street fashion photography.

Tell me about a unique, funny, or interesting experience you have had while photographing a wedding.
A wedding I once photographed turned out to be a surprise wedding because the couple was expecting a baby..at the wedding the bride and groom took out a sonogram of the baby and showed everyone... people cried out of joy..it was pretty emotional.

What's your favorite part of shooting a wedding?
Hitting those perfect shots that I know are going in the album.. or going as larger prints... just saying "I nailed that shot" is a good feeling. Also afterwards hearing the reaction of a pleased bride makes my job worth it.

What do you love most about your job? -
Being able to be my own boss and not sit between 3 cubicle walls which I knew I wasn't meant to do.. and being able to do something where people congratulate you on what you're doing..is a great thing.

What's your favorite photo and why?
Well my favorite wedding photo might be this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/smoothdude/1371471263/
Personal photos probably one of my lady Jordana: http://www.flickr.com/photos/smoothdude/95535872/ or

Who and or what has had a major influence on your photography?
I draw a lot of inspiration from photographers on flickr... there's so much talent on there its amazing.. a great community of people where I learn and share.
