Take Two!

Good morning, loves! How are you all today? I'm happy to report that I'm feeling much better after a few days of being sick. I'm feeling so great, in fact, that I've decided that tonight will be take 2 of our anniversary celebration.

Our actual anniversary this Tuesday was nice and cozy and all but to be completely honest it wasn't really the greatest anniversary ever. J & I were so sick that we could barely even muster enough energy to look at each other, never mind anything romantic.

But the nice part of being together 25 years means that we don't sweat the small stuff. Things come up in life and we just make the best of it. And that's exactly what we're going to do tonight.

Rather than attend Fashion's Night Out tonight {can you say sacrifice???}, I've decided to take J to dinner and the theater. J's been wanting to see Anything Goes since the spring so I decided yesterday to get tickets for tonight. How good of a wife am I? The things you do for love.... :)

And then we'll follow that up by popping open the bottle of Dom that my sister & brother-in-law gave us for our anniversary. Nice gift, right? Love them!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

xoxo

Our Special Day

Good morning, lovelies! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. It was a long one here in the states and now it's back from vacation for me and back to reality.

Luckily to make the transition easier, today happens to be a very special day for me & J. It's our 25th anniversary of being together. Yeah I know 25 years sounds almost impossible for someone not yet 40 but it's true. We've been together since we were 14 years old.

I'm so incredibly fortunate to have met the love of my life way back when. We grew up together and I ended up marrying my best friend. Lucky me! Looking back I always knew we would end up where we are today. Living our dream life and being happier than ever.

To my J...Thank you, my love, for being my love, my life & my best friend and for making all of my dreams come true. I know I'm the luckiest girl alive!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

xoxo

Love Is In The Air

Good morning, lovelies! So sorry I haven't been around much lately. Between the long weekend at the beach house, hectic work days, and our anniversary yesterday things have been a little difficult. I do miss visiting though and promise to be around real soon.

All in all things are truly wonderful though. As I mentioned yesterday was one of our anniversaries. I say one because we celebrate quite a few. Our civil ceremony which took place 2 years ago yesterday in Connecticut, our commitment ceremony which we had 15 years ago coming up in August and our first date/NY wedding ceremony & reception which is in September. It's a lot to keep track of but we like to celebrate so it's not really a problem for us :)

Our 25th anniversary, yes I did say 25 years, we got together on the young side, is coming up this September so we decided to keep last night's celebration on the lower key side. J took me to finally get an iPhone. I was so excited because I've been wanting one for years but had to switch providers and we never got around to making the switch. Can you say officially addicted? Yes it's true. I love it! Then we had a romantic, absolutely delicious dinner at Union Square Cafe. It was wonderful and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect anniversary.

Hope you're all having a wonderful week. Sending lots of love your way!
xoxo

Summer Souvenirs

Hope you're all enjoying the last unofficial days of summer this weekend. Looking forward to taking it all in and putting many more treasures in my memory box. We have a wedding to attend today and then the rest of the weekend is ours to do with whatever we choose. Our one year anniversary on Monday so the weekend is sure to be filled with lots of celebrating.

Enjoy, darlings! xoxo

Keepin Cool

Happy Monday lovelies! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend. Mine was wonderful. Got some time in at the beach and we also celebrated our anniversary yesterday. Pure bliss. I'm just loving the summertime. Totally have that summer mentality going on and I'm feeling calm, cool & collected. Speaking of keeping cool, the temperatures are really, really high. Today it's going to be in the mid nineties and in the city that can be pretty unbearable. I'm planing on lightweight dressing and dreams of cool treats and refreshing pools to keep me cool today.

Sorry I haven't been around for a few days. I'll be stopping around your way soon and can't wait to catch up with you all. In the meantime stay cool, darlings! xoxo

Special Saturday

Happy Saturday everyone! Hope you're all having a lovely weekend. Today is our 6 month anniversary...I can't believe I've been a married woman for 6 months now!

We woke up to a beautiful sunny day and I can finally feel springtime in the air. And being the lucky girl that I am, I'm currently getting to relax on the couch while my love makes me a delicious brunch. And later on tonight we're going to Allen & Delancey for a romantic dinner to celebrate. I'm so excited...It's gonna be an amazing day! :)

Enjoy the weekend, lovelies! xoxo

Happy Anniversary to Us!

Hope you all had a great weekend! We're finally starting to feel better thankfully so we were able to make it to the Blink 182 concert last night. We got to sit in the first row too so it was really amazing!

Today is a really exciting day for us for a few reasons.

#11 It's our RSVP deadline day

#2 It's our 2nd dress fittings

#3 Most importantly it's our Annivesary! Whenever I tell people about it being our anniversary the first word that comes out of their mouths is "AGAIN?!?!" Ok it's true. We have quite a few that we recognize. This one is for our commitment ceremony. Kind of an important one, right? Oh and I can't forget that it's also a year ago today that we decided to go ahead and make this whole thing official :)

Oh how things have changed since then. Color schemes, bridal parties, photographers, musicians, florists, hair & makeup artists, rentals, wedding planners! Oh man, I remember once upon a time when things were much more simple. Turn back the hands of time almost 13 years earlier back to August 10th 1996. That was the day that we had a beautiful intimate commitment ceremony in front of 40 of our closest friends and family in Jen’s parent’s backyard. We were young, madly in love, had no money and not much taste and yet it was the most amazing day of my life.

This photo looks almost vinatage but it was 1996!

It was the most incredible day

Our parents and siblings played major roles in the ceremony, with each member reading passages, poems, and even singing songs to celebrate our love.

Jen's loving father. He's forever in our hearts.

Jen’s sister Jill was in a quartet at the time and they sang us a beautiful song called Secret Love. The words of the song perfectly describe our relationship and it was so touching to hear them sing it to us so beautifully.

The choir singing Secret Love

Once I had a secret love
That lived within the heart of me
All too soon my secret love
Became impatient to be free
So I told the friendly star
The way that dreamers often do
Just how wonderful you are
And why I’m so in love with you
Now I should it from the highest hills
Even told the golden daffodils
At last my heart’s an open door
And my secret love’s no secret anymore

I'm a lucky girl!

We didn’t have a wedding party but we did have our best friend Derek serve as our best man.

With our best man Derek after his toast.

Everyone there had an amazing time, we even did the Macarena! Now don’t judge, it was 1996 after all :) And people still tell me to this day that it was the most beautiful wedding they’ve ever been to.

The infamous Macarena

Cutting the cake

In the middle of all the madness that we’re going through now trying to plan this monster extravaganza, I think that we need to look back to that day and remember how happy we we were and how effortless everything was. We had no expectations. We simply wanted to celebrate our love in front of our loved ones. It didn’t matter what the linens looked like or what shoes we were wearing. I think our biggest splurge that day was a tray of shrimp cocktail from Red Lobster. The whole thing was totally no fuss. Although I do remember insisting that we have silverware and not use plastic utensils. I guess I was a bit of diva even back then :)

Ok I have to remember to keep myself in check and focus on what’s important. I’m getting to legally marry the love of my life and I’m going to celebrate it with 150 of our nearest & dearest in a way that reflects us perfectly. No complaints here.
