Sweet Start

Good Monday morning! How was your weekend, lovelies? Mine was wonderful. I had a fabulous, albeit very short trip to Philadelphia. Didn't get to see or do that much outside of the hotel but that was fabulous in itself.

We did walk around Rittenhouse Square and went to drinks at a lovely little French place called Rouge and then to dinner after. Then Sunday was spent at the hockey game which was amazing. We had 3rd row seats and our team won! Go Rangers! :)

Now here we are ready to start the week. Oh why are the weekends so short? I would do so much better with a 4 day work week, wouldn't you? Think I need a little sweetness to get me motivated.

So tell me. What did you all do this weekend? Hope it was wonderful!

Monday Morning

Why is it that Mondays seem to come too soon? Even though I had a blissfully relaxing weekend which included a lovely stroll through the green market, cooking and lots of cuddling up on the couch watching movies and hockey, I can't help but wish for another day off. I guess who really wants the goodness to end? Plus it's Columbus Day and other people have off but I don't. Oh well...

I do have things to look forward to this week. Starting with a fabulous giveaway and a guest post at one of my favorites tomorrow. Can't wait!

What did you all do this weekend?

Have a wonderful Monday, lovelies. Happy Columbus Day to those in the US and Happy Thanksgiving to all of my Canadian friends! Hope you're all enjoying the extended weekend! xoxo

Revived & Refreshed!

Welcome to a brand new week, lovelies! Hope that you all had a wonderful weekend. Mine was that perfect NYC fall weekend I was hoping for. A hockey game Friday night viewed from a luxury box with my siblings & friends. {Not a bad way to watch a game :)}

And Saturday was filled with more family time and a lot of cultural activities. We went to see the King Tut exhibit and then went to the Met to see the Big Bambú exhibit on the roof garden on top of the museum. It's a 50 foot sculpture made of bamboo perched on top of the roof. It was really spectacular. And it was the most gorgeous day...clear, crisp, and bright sunshine. We stayed up there for a few hours sipping cocktails and taking in the gorgeous views of the city and looking up in awe at the amazing piece of art before our eyes. Thank you so much to Audrey Allure for telling me about this a few months ago. I'm so happy that I had a chance to see it. If any of you are in the NY area before the end of the month, you really should head on over to the Met to check it out.

Sunday was filled with more goodness, brunch with the bestie, a trip to the green market, followed by a lazy Sunday afternoon spent indoors catching up on reading, sleeping, cooking and a bit of tv. I feel revived, refreshed and ready to start the week.

What did you all do this weekend?

Amazing Atlanta

OK I know I promised this yesterday but it's taken a bit longer than expected to get caught up with things after the trip. In any case, here are some snapshots from my weekend getaway to Atlanta. Even though it was a very short trip I managed to pack in a bunch of fun in those 2 days.

Saturday I had the opportunity to meet one of my most favorite bloggers, Shari from Little Blue Deer. It was just by luck that we happened to be in the same city at the same time since neither of us currently live there. Shari was visiting her alma mater Emory for homecoming and she invited me to attend the concert the Indigo Girls were having at the university. I took a short taxi ride from the city on over to Emory, got a tiny bit lost but Shari was there to welcome me with open arms and a big smile when I finally arrived.

As I said yesterday, if you think Shari is wonderful from following her blog and from conversing with her over the blogosphere, this girl is even more amazing in person. I was so thrilled that I got to meet her and I actually feel like I've know her for years. Fast friends, for sure! You can head on over to her blog to catch the rest of the of the story that day. {Hint - this city girl had a bit of a hard time hailing a cab on back to the city :)}

Then Saturday night J & I caught the Atlanta Thrashers hockey game which was another real treat. For those of you who are new here, I'll fill you in on my little passion. I've been a hockey fanatic for years and it's our little goal to eventually visit all NHL arenas in the US & Canada. It's always exciting to check another one off the list. So far we've visited 14 out of 30. We're getting there :)

Sunday unfortunately was a rainy day but we didn't let that hamper our fun. Since it was wet outdoors we went with the water theme and decided to head on over to the aquarium to explore the underworld. I love aquariums and have always wanted to visit the Georgia Aquarium, the world's largest one. I always had a fascination with life underneath the sea and this experience was so incredibly magical.

They have a really impressive assortment of species including 2 beluga whales who actually gave me chills as I watched. They are so huge, yet gentle and playful. I felt like I could watch them for hours.

Some other highlights were the manta rays, the huge whale sharks and hammerhead sharks and the absolutely adorable penguins.

I loved it so much that I'm actually planning my next trip to one of the local aquariums. It might not be as impressive as the one in Georgia but I look forward to the opportunity to escape into the underworld for a little while.

Hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday!

Autumn Arrives

Happy Thursday, loves! And happy fall! Fall officially arrived at 11:09 pm last night making today the first full day of the fall season.

It's actually really hard to believe. Summer hasn't gotten the memo over here in NY that it's time is up. It's in the high 80s and is going to be that warm well into the weekend. Never mind the fact that I'll be headed south for the weekend where it'll be in the 90s! I'll definitely be packing the bathing suit and lounging by the pool to soak up whatever rays are left. I guess my new sweaters and boots will have to stay tucked away in the closet for a little bit longer.

Although the thermometer might not be cooperating I am going to indulge in a little fall activity today by heading to my first hockey game of the season. Can't wait, it's been a real long off-season and I'm just itching to see the action again. Ooooh I can just feel the temperature dropping as I speak!

How do you all plan to welcome the season?

Road Trip!

Happy Friday everyone! I'm so happy that it's finally the weekend. I'm off from work today and J & I are hitting the road and driving on up to Boston for the big birthday weekend celebration. (We always make birthdays into a weeklong affair :))

I have a bunch of fun things planned...staying at an amazing hotel, some great meals & drink spots, strolling around in the springtime weather and then we'll cap the weekend off with a hockey game. It's everything we love to do and it should be absolutely perfect :)

Hope you all have a fun weekend! What do you all have on tap?

Spring Awakening

Happy March Monday lovelies! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. We had a great time. We had my siblings and good friends over yesterday to watch the US/Canada hockey game. I told everyone it was like my Superbowl so we threw together a little impromptu party. It was a great game and although I was somewhat disappointed that the US lost, I was happy for Canada. It is their sport and it was a storybook ending with Crosby scoring the goal.

I'm so happy to be done with February. I know that Spring is still a while away but I'm over this snow and cold weather and I'm dreaming of a little warmth, fresh blooms and J's bday is just around the corner. Fun times ahead!

Have a wonderful day! xoxo

Isn't She Lovely?

Happy Day! I'm really excited today for two reasons, all thanks to one person. #1 the lovely Helena of A Diary of Lovely gave me the Beautiful Blogger Award and #2 she is featuring me today on her blog as part of the My Stuff Series she has going on. I am so honored to be a part of her series and to receive the award. Thank you so much, Helena! You've made my week! :)

If you haven't yet already, you should definitely stop by and check out her blog. It's chock full of inspiration...fashion, decor, art, cooking, movies...and it's just so pretty! She truly is an amazing blogger and she also happens to be so sweet! Be sure to stop by and say hi.

Ok so onto the Beautiful Blogger Award. The rules are:

  • Thank the person who nominated you for the award.
  • Copy the award & place it on your blog.
  • Link to the person who nominated you for this award.
  • Tell us 7 interesting things about yourself.
  • Nominate 7 bloggers.
  • Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate.
Ok so 7 interesting things about me (not sure how interesting they are but it's all I've got:))...

1. It was my dream to be a fashion illustrator but I was persuaded to try the business route of fashion instead. My father didn't want me to live the life of a starving artist. To this day l cry whenever I see a beautiful illustration.

2. My other dream was to be a fashion stylist. Unfortunately this was back in the 80s and it seemed as if nobody knew what a fashion stylist was so I had no idea how to get started. I think it would be a different story today thanks to Rachel Zoe....

3. I am allergic to wool. It took many years and countless rashes along the way until i finally, tearfully admitted this to myself.

4. I have flat feet but that doesn't stop me from wearing these babies...

5. I hate the gym. I waste countless dollars every year on a gym membership and I hardly ever go.

6. I've only even BEEN with one person my entire life...

7. If I had to choose another city to live it, it would be Vancouver. My top 7 reasons: #1 - I love Canada, #2 - I love the water, #3 - I love the mountains, #4 - I love hockey and Canadians get that. #5 - I love the cultural diversity of the city #6 - I feel like I could live a healthier life. I envision J & I riding bikes or going on hikes on a regular basis. #7 - I love Canadians.

I wish I could give this to all of you but unfortunately rules are rules and I can only pass this onto 7 of you. It was a tough choice but I'm gonna go with some of my good ol girls from back in the day (blogspeak: i've known them for over 6 months) :)

Chic 'n Cheap Living
The Professional Bridesmaid
Honey My Heart
Anna and the Ring
The Thirty Something Bride
Pink Argyle
Holy Hanna...Wholly Krista

Be sure to check them all out. Each and every one of them rock in their own special way :)

Real Hockey Wedding

I came across the wedding of NY Islander goaltender Rick DiPietro & his wife Cassandra the other day on Brenda's Wedding Blog & I just had to post it here because it combines two of my major passions hockey & weddings! Oh and her Monique Lhuillier gown is to die for!!!

They dined from the "fancy pizza truck parked right outside the venue with classic New York slices". I love the extra special NYC touch! It's a little funny that he decided to get married in NYC since he's a NY Islander and has been one for his entire career but I'm not judging :)

Have a happy weekend everyone!
