Afternoon Delight

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Good morning, lovelies! And happy Wednesday to you all.

So happy to say that today is my Friday! I'm lucky to have an incredibly short week, only 2 and a half days of work, since Thanksgiving is tomorrow.

I get out of work at noon today so I have the whole afternoon to myself. A perfect way to start the holiday weekend. I'm hoping that the weather clears up so that I can take a walk in Central Park and then catch the Thanksgiving Day parade balloons being blown up later on tonight.

Other than that, I'm planning on a relaxing 4 day weekend with lots of family time. Also planning on catching up on life and getting ready for the holiday season. Christmas is only a month away and there's lots to do!

Enjoy the day, sweets!

xoxo

Autumn in the City

Good morning, lovelies! Can't believe it's Thursday already. The week seems to be flying by. I just love weeks like that! :)

NYC is a fabulous place to live year round but in my opinion there's no better time than the fall. It's even more picturesque than usual with the kaleidoscope of changing leaves. Walks through Central Park are seriously a feast for the eyes.

And there's no better way to pass the time than by people watching over a cappuccino at a sidewalk cafe. NYers seriously bring it this time of year. The fashion parade is something to see!

And of course there's all of the excitement around the holidays. As of November the outdoor rinks are already open and that magical feeling is starting to fill the air.

Have any of you ever visited NYC in the fall? If not, you definitely should. And be sure to let me know if you're in town :)

Enjoy the day, sweets!

xoxo

Happy Wednesday, lovelies! Hope you're all having a wonderful week. The weather is picture perfect here and it's already the middle of my 3 day work week so you can say that I'm having a fabulous week.

I know in the past I've talked about the drawbacks to being in the city in the summer. The heat, humidity and occasional smells can really make you want to run for the hills. But this past weekend I spent the majority of my time in the city and it made me realize and remember just how amazing it can be this time of year.

Spectacular rooftop views, walks in the parks and along the rivers, the backyard restaurant gardens, it's all a feast for the senses. Also, the city basically empties out on weekends, especially holiday ones, so it's as if you have the city to yourself. It's a real treat.

Don't get me wrong, I'm really looking forward to heading back to the beach house this weekend but it was nice to rediscover the beauty of the city in summertime.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Good morning, lovelies! Hope your week is going splendidly. I'm still playing catch up after vacation, no surprise. It always takes a while for me to get back in the grove. I'm not worried though. It'll all come in time. I still have that vacation ease about me.

And in the meantime I'm thoroughly enjoying the gorgeous weather and beauty of spring that has popped up around here since I've been gone. Looking out my window I see a gorgeous canopy of green taking over the parks. And I also came back to peonies at my flower market. I'm over the moon since I've been waiting all year. I purchased a bunch for home and a bunch for work. I want to see those beauties wherever I happen to be. The trees are all green and flowers are in bloom and I'm as happy as can be :)

Hope you all have a wonderful day! Oh and I'm also am on over at Hello, Spledor today sharing one of my favorite NYC spots on the Splendid List. Stop by and check it out. If you're ever in NYC be sure to stop by this place as well as the other fabulous places included on the list!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween, everyone! I'm off to watch a toddler and dog parade {too adorable for words really} and then I'll be roaming the city to see the unbelievable sights. NYC is really something to see on Halloween. There's no where else I'd rather be.

Hope that you all have a spooktacular day!

Soothing Strolls

Happy mid-week, darlings! Fall brings so many little pleasures, doesn't it? Leaves changing colors, fabulous fashion, boots, tights and amazing outerwear, a return to warm coffee and those amazing leisurely days spent taking in the sights of the city. I love nothing better than hitting the streets on a cool autumn day. Everything seems to slow down a bit and I feel like I could walk for miles strolling by fabulous shops, quaint cafes, beautiful architecture and neighborhood parks. It's a little feast for the eyes.

And since the days are shorter this time of year I even try to get out during the work day for a brief stroll and a little glimpse of daylight. It just feels so indulgent and good for the soul.

Hope you all get the chance to escape for a little soul soother today. Have a wonderful one! xoxo

Revived & Refreshed!

Welcome to a brand new week, lovelies! Hope that you all had a wonderful weekend. Mine was that perfect NYC fall weekend I was hoping for. A hockey game Friday night viewed from a luxury box with my siblings & friends. {Not a bad way to watch a game :)}

And Saturday was filled with more family time and a lot of cultural activities. We went to see the King Tut exhibit and then went to the Met to see the Big BambĂș exhibit on the roof garden on top of the museum. It's a 50 foot sculpture made of bamboo perched on top of the roof. It was really spectacular. And it was the most gorgeous day...clear, crisp, and bright sunshine. We stayed up there for a few hours sipping cocktails and taking in the gorgeous views of the city and looking up in awe at the amazing piece of art before our eyes. Thank you so much to Audrey Allure for telling me about this a few months ago. I'm so happy that I had a chance to see it. If any of you are in the NY area before the end of the month, you really should head on over to the Met to check it out.

Sunday was filled with more goodness, brunch with the bestie, a trip to the green market, followed by a lazy Sunday afternoon spent indoors catching up on reading, sleeping, cooking and a bit of tv. I feel revived, refreshed and ready to start the week.

What did you all do this weekend?

Off To The Market We Go

Happy mid-week! Hope you're all having a fabulous week. As I've been mentioning, the weather has been a bit on the cool side this week. Fall is most definitely in the air which I have mixed feelings about. Sad to see summer go but excited for all of the things fall signifies.

One of my favorite things to do in the late summer into fall is head on off to the greenmarket at least once a week. I just love strolling through, browsing the various stands and seeing all of the fresh, delicious fruits & veggies, baked goods, cheese, fish & meats & lets not forget gorgeous flowers. I usually leave with quite a few totes full of goodies. It definitely sets the tone for a pleasurable, relaxing yet indulgent weekend.

I was so thrilled when I came across these absolutely gorgeous photos of the Union Square Farmers Market that Jamie took. That's my market! And she captured the vibrancy & energy perfectly. Head on over to her blog for more goodness.

Before I go, I have a little announcement regarding the Betsey Johnson Bow Pendant giveaway. Unfortunately the original pendant that I posted is no longer available. But have no fear! The new prize is even better, I think. It's the Betsey Johnson 'First Date' Bow Pendant Necklace.

Adorable, right? Hope you guys love it as much as I do. Again, sorry for the mix up. And for those of you who have yet to enter, be sure to leave a comment here for your chance to win. Remember this is only open to followers of The Alternative Wife. And you can tweet every day for extra entries.

Hope you all have a wonderful day! xoxo
