Who Wears Short Shorts?

Not me, that's for sure! Why you ask? Well it goes way way back to a day when I was in 2nd grade. I was wearing some shorts at "Field Day", a supposed fun-filled day of athletic competition. I was standing around in the field waiting for a ball to come my way when out of the blue a boy called me "thunder thighs". Heart.break. Self esteem killer. I could have killed him but I was too crushed to move. To this very day I can still feel the stake go straight through my heart. Kids can be so damn cruel!

OK, I must admit he might've had a point. My thighs have never been one of my best features. No matter how hard I work them, which admittedly isn't very often these days, they still have a little extra jiggle.

I spend the entire summer in skirts and dresses. Never in a million years would I dream of wearing shorts. But oh how I love the look of them. Especially when paired with a little cardi & cute ballet slippers. Tres adorable!

How about you guys? Are your short sporters? Or do you hide your jiggle under forgiving skirts & dresses?

Happy April lovelies! Well the rain has passed, the sun is finally out, tree buds are blooming and the temperatures are rising so I'd say it's about time for me to kick off my boots and into some lovely springy shoes.

Sending lots of sunshine your way :) xoxo

Isn't She Lovely?

Happy Day! I'm really excited today for two reasons, all thanks to one person. #1 the lovely Helena of A Diary of Lovely gave me the Beautiful Blogger Award and #2 she is featuring me today on her blog as part of the My Stuff Series she has going on. I am so honored to be a part of her series and to receive the award. Thank you so much, Helena! You've made my week! :)

If you haven't yet already, you should definitely stop by and check out her blog. It's chock full of inspiration...fashion, decor, art, cooking, movies...and it's just so pretty! She truly is an amazing blogger and she also happens to be so sweet! Be sure to stop by and say hi.

Ok so onto the Beautiful Blogger Award. The rules are:

  • Thank the person who nominated you for the award.
  • Copy the award & place it on your blog.
  • Link to the person who nominated you for this award.
  • Tell us 7 interesting things about yourself.
  • Nominate 7 bloggers.
  • Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate.
Ok so 7 interesting things about me (not sure how interesting they are but it's all I've got:))...

1. It was my dream to be a fashion illustrator but I was persuaded to try the business route of fashion instead. My father didn't want me to live the life of a starving artist. To this day l cry whenever I see a beautiful illustration.

2. My other dream was to be a fashion stylist. Unfortunately this was back in the 80s and it seemed as if nobody knew what a fashion stylist was so I had no idea how to get started. I think it would be a different story today thanks to Rachel Zoe....

3. I am allergic to wool. It took many years and countless rashes along the way until i finally, tearfully admitted this to myself.

4. I have flat feet but that doesn't stop me from wearing these babies...

5. I hate the gym. I waste countless dollars every year on a gym membership and I hardly ever go.

6. I've only even BEEN with one person my entire life...

7. If I had to choose another city to live it, it would be Vancouver. My top 7 reasons: #1 - I love Canada, #2 - I love the water, #3 - I love the mountains, #4 - I love hockey and Canadians get that. #5 - I love the cultural diversity of the city #6 - I feel like I could live a healthier life. I envision J & I riding bikes or going on hikes on a regular basis. #7 - I love Canadians.

I wish I could give this to all of you but unfortunately rules are rules and I can only pass this onto 7 of you. It was a tough choice but I'm gonna go with some of my good ol girls from back in the day (blogspeak: i've known them for over 6 months) :)

Chic 'n Cheap Living
The Professional Bridesmaid
Honey My Heart
Anna and the Ring
The Thirty Something Bride
Pink Argyle
Holy Hanna...Wholly Krista

Be sure to check them all out. Each and every one of them rock in their own special way :)

Pure Perfection!

I just came across these over at dress, design & decor. I nearly had a heart attack because they are just too amazing. My close friend is getting married in Feb. and these would be absolutely perfect for her!

I made an inspiration board for her way back when but I never showed you guys the final product. Here's where we ended up....

So what do you think? Absolute perfection, right?!?!

Good news is she actually already has a to-die-for!!!! pair of shoes that are amazing. I can't share them with you just yet though because I'm sure she'd kill me for spoiling her big secret. I'll leave you these to swoon over in the meantime :)

Jimmy, Oh Jimmy!

I know I'm not alone when I say that I'm DYING to get my hands on some of the fab pieces Jimmy Choo designed for H&M. I mean how could I not? It's a match made in heaven and a girls dream come true! JC shoes, accessories & clothing from $30-$299!

The line's not available yet but that hasn't stopped the folks at H&M from teasing me and other poor people alike. I walked by the H&M on 5th & 51st today and the windows are already decked out in all things Jimmy giving us all a sneak peak of the fabulosity soon to come. The limited edition line will be available in select H&M stores this Saturday, November 14th. A warning to those of you brave enough to fight the crowds. Be sure to bring your patience, protective gear and if you're a really desperate maybe even your sleeping bag. I hear they are anticipating long lines and there will be a bracelet system.

Here are a "few" of the items I'm eyeing:

Any of you thinking of stopping by H&M this weekend? If so, what are you hoping to get?

Our Wedding - Attire

We both wore ivory gowns. Js was a gorgeous a-line Maggie Sottero gown with a corset closure. It was originally strapless but she had lace straps custom made which I thought made the gown even more beautiful. The bodice had an embellished lace sweetheart neckline with an asymmetrical wrap. And the side front had a draped Romance satin overlay which revealed an embellished lace underlay.

Mine was a strapless taffeta modified A-line James Clifford gown which had a hand-beaded lace bust line and a ruched bodice with asymmetrically dropped waistline with a chapel length train.

We picked them out together so they would compliment each other and be right for each of us individually.

J bought me this beautiful tennis bracelet for my birthday this year. I had wanted one for a while now and I mentioned last year when we first got engaged that was what I would want as a wedding present. But since we decided the wedding was our present to each other, she got it for my birthday. I was so surprised and thrilled!

And the shoes well I've gone on and on about these before so I'll spare you any more gushing :)

Oh and if you haven't done so already, be sure to check out the Wedding Paper Divas giveaway that closes tomorrow at 12pm EST. Have a wonderful Saturday!

Fancy FĂȘtes

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

We were jammed pact as usual but we had a good one. I thought things were supposed to slow down after the wedding but that just doesn't seem to be the case for us. So many parties and so little time!

First came a wedding. This past Saturday we went to my cousin Karen's wedding on Long Island. What a great time! My cousin looked gorgeous and was glowing the entire night. And it was really great to have another wedding to go to so soon after ours. This time we just had to show up & have fun. Plus it was nice because we got to catch up with a bunch of family members that we didn't get to spend that much time with on our wedding day. Good times, good times.

And the fun doesn't stop there. This coming Thursday I'm lucky enough to be attending the 25th Annual DreamBall at the Waldorf Astoria. I'm super excited because not only is this a huge beauty industry event that I've been dying to go to for years, but this year the ball is celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the Look Good…Feel Better® Program, a wonderful program created to help individuals with cancer look good, improve their self-esteem and manage their treatment and recovery with greater confidence. I've been a supporter of the program for years, but this year it's even more special to me after watching my best friend succumb to breast cancer this past April.

Like I said, I'm beyond excited about it so I totally jumped at the opportunity to go. No way was I turning this invite down! I did have one problem to deal with though. It's a black tie event so of course I didn't have anything to wear. I have a lot of cocktail dresses and some old gowns that I wore many years ago but nothing that would work now. J jokingly (I hope) suggested that I dye my wedding gown black, but since that would never ever happen, I ended up hitting the shops yesterday to find the perfect dress.

A simple enough task, right? Go to a store and find a dress. Unfortunately that wasn't the case for me. I thought it was gonna be easy. The first dress I tried on was gorgeous and almost perfect...only problem was that it was too big. I wasn't really discouraged though. I had about 10 other dresses in the room to try on. One of them would have to work.

But like I said, that wasn't the case for me. 5 stores 25 dresses and about 3 hours later I was still outta luck. By then I was totally exhausted and irritated and ready to throw in the towel and bail on the ball. Luckily my savior J found one that ended up being the winner. Et voila!

What do you guys think? I wasn't too sure about the color at first. I think it was just my negativity boiling over though because once I tried it on, we knew it was the one. I'm going to wear my wedding shoes again. Loving that I get another opportunity to wear them! I wore them to my cousin's wedding too. I can't get enough of them :)

Now I'm on the desperate search for a clutch. I would love to get the Jimmy ones that match my shoes but there's no way that I'm spending a grand on a clutch. I think I'd be divorced within the next two weeks!

So I guess I need an alternative. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Desperately Seeking

A pair of sparkly flats like any of these for the wedding. I know I'm going to need to change out of my shoes at some point during the night and I think these would be perfect. Does anyone know where I can find a pair?

Sole Savior

Now we can all kick off our heels and go straight to heaven! I'm just looooving these flats and I think they would make an amazing attendant gift! SpareSoles are foldable ballet slippers that come in their own little bag that fits comfortably in your purse or can even be used as a wristlet. They're also waterproof, washable and have skid resistant soles. And they're only $25. Not bad, right? I don't know you but I know I'd pay almost any price when I'm need of some fast foot relief. I'm placing my order PRONTO!

Dilemma No. 452 -To Bag Or Not To Bag

My latest thing I've been obsessing over is whether or not to carry a bag on the big day. Do brides really use/need one? I'm definitely going to want to have my lipgloss and a few other things with me but I remember last year at my sisters wedding I used a clutch but I never really had it with me.

I found this amazing chiffon and organza rosette one from Mary Norton. It's to die for! And she also has coordinating shoes! They're just swoon worthy, right?!

Ok but I'm definitely not switching the shoes. I'm moving forward and sticking with my original choice. So back to the topic. What do you guys think? Should I bag it or not?
