Hair Envy

Oh what I'd give to have a head of hair like this. The color {even though I'm most definitely content to be brunette I'm sure I'm not the only one who's dreamed of having golden locks like this just even for a moment} , the movement, the texture, the body. It's all divine! And she certainly knows how to work it, doesn't she?

What's your dream hair look like?

A Few {Frivolous} Keys to Happiness

Happy Thursday! Seems like an awfully long week this week. To get me through the stretch I started thinking of few little things that make me happy. Frivolous little things, nothing that really matters like family, friends and the like. Here's what I came up with....

A pretty dress

Good hair days

Sweet underthings

Fresh flowers

What are yours?

What Goes Around

Totally comes around. This is my hair circa 1986. No joke. I remember I was so scared to let my parents see. I kept it covered whenever I was around them but the second the coast was clear I flipped it right over.

What was the most daring thing you ever did to your hair?

Brilliant Braids

Hope you're all enjoying the day! Today is my Friday and it's a goregous sunny 70 degree day here so I couldn't be happier. :)

I don't know how you all feel about them but I've been gaga for braids for a while now. And just when I thought I mastered the art and was ready to finally sport them in public I came across these two gorgeous braids. How amazing are they? That fishtail is a spring must-have in my book! Guess I'm going to have to go study some more....

Oh and don't forget to enter the Mario Badescu Skincare giveaway! And remember, if you're a tweeter, you can get an extra entry ever day you tweet. Good luck!!!

Fluro Flash

There's been a lot of interesting things going on with hair color lately. From My Little Pony strands in editorials and on the Vena Cava runway to the full on dip-dye look.

I kinda like it...reminds me of my punky teenage years but maybe with a little more sophisticated twist (the MLP strands). What do you guys think? Would you give it a shot?

Flower Power

It's only January and I'm already sick of the cold. I'm over my tights, boots and layers and I'm ready to bust out a pretty floral dress like this Missoni one. And wear a long braid. 2 months later and finally my hair is back to it's old length so I think I'm ready to rock one :)

Did You Notice?

So as you can see from the recaps so far I didn't end up making the big 2nd dress change that I was considering many months ago. I figured why should I waste the money on a second dress? And why not enjoy my wedding gown for as long as I can before I had put it away for good. Really it's such a shame that I'll never get to wear it again. It's still hanging from my closet door tempting me to try it on just one more time!

However, I did decide to make a little change before the reception. I just couldn't help myself. Did you notice? I'm sure you're all super observant and all so I don't think that I have to tell you. I'll just show you in case you're new here and missed it.

So who's the smarty who can tell what I did? :)

Reality Check

Well I guess it wasn't a dream after all! We're finally back from our honeymoon and we had a wonderful time but now the time has come to try to get back to reality. I have to tell you that it's a really really hard thing to do. I'm still on this bridal high and I'm not exactly sure how to reacquaint myself with normalcy.

The whole wedding kinda seems like it was a dream. I'm really thankful for the tons of pictures that have been coming in from various family & friends. I need them to show myself that our amazing wedding did, in fact, happen!

Our apartment still looks like a wedding bomb went off with presents, extra favors & welcome bag supplies, and various other wedding accessories scattered all over the place. We even have our dresses hanging from both our closet doors. Basically there's no where to walk. Needless to say we'll be on opperation declutter very soon.

So now's the time to start the recap. I want to share everything with you guys but I'm not exactly sure where to begin. I guess I'll start by sharing a few pictures from the morning of.

The amazing Central Park view from our suite

It was such a special time. My sisters Lisa & Krissy along with J & myself were whisked from our hotels downtown to our salon for hair. It was such a great time. It almost felt like we were in Steel Magnolias taking over the salon. It was exactly what J & I had always envisioned.

My ceremony hair flowers

My sister Krissy's hair rocked!!!

Then we headed back on uptown to le Parker Meridien where we were joined by our fabulous makeup artist Erika. Seriously, she is the greatest makeup artist that I've ever worked with. I was so thrilled that she was available to work her magic on our wedding day.

Erika at work on my sister Lisa

And I cannot forgot our amazing friends Natalie & Courtney. They showed up at the hotel bright and early and were there the entire way making our day totally unforgettable. We love those girls, they're basically like our sisters, and it meant so much to have them there with us to share in the events of the day. They even documented the whole thing with a ton of pictures & video. AMAZING!

Love these girls! xoxo

I have some video too that I'll share sometime soon. That really captures the fun, loving, lighthearted, unforgettable time we had that morning.

Where To Get Dressed Distress

The past few days has revolved around us planning the flow of the day. Where and when will we each be getting ready? The whole thing is a bit tricky because we don't have confirmation that we will have early check into to the bridal suite at the hotel on the day that we get married. Also we were trying to get early check-in for our wedding attendants so they would have a place to get ready but it looks like that wont be feasible because the hotel will be booked. It just happens that it is the US Open that weekend and many of the tennis players stay at le Parker Meridien. Oh how convenient...

So then you ask, why don't you book a room at the hotel for the night before the wedding to avoid all the stress and confusion. Well that's not going to work because we are doing hair early in the morning at a salon near our apartment so we should just sleep at home that night to avoid a mad rush downtown from the hotel the morning of the wedding.

Another layer of confusion is where and what time will we be getting makeup done? We were planning to do it at the hotel but, like I said, we don't have guaranteed early check-in. We have to be ready for pictures at 2pm and I think right now they're guaranteeing a 1pm check in. I was hoping for more like 11am. I'm hoping we can convince them to accomodate us.

So as of now 2 of our sisters have reserved rooms at the hotel for the night before the wedding so that they at least have a place to get ready. You would think that we could just get ready in one of their rooms but unfortunately the rooms are on the small side and it won't be possible to pack a bunch of people in the rooms.

Can you tell that I'm in stressed out bride mode yet? We have a To Do list a mile long but I'm just going to take a deep breath and sit back and try convince myself that it will all work out :)

T-Minus 3 Months!

Wow what a weekend! We had some amazing weather here and had a ton of fun dining al fresco and celebrating Nat's bday and my cousin's bridal luncheon. And on top of all the fun we even managed to accomplish a few wedding tasks.

Saturday was my hair trial and I was thrilled with the results! Sarah, my amazing stylist over at Parlor, created the exact look I was envisioning. I actually started to well up! I was so happy!!! I didn't even do that when I tried on my dress a few weeks ago...is that a bad sign about the dress??? I'm thinking that maybe I should try to recreate the look before I go for my fitting in July so I can see hair & dress together to get a more accurate picture of what it will look like on the big day. I'm sure I'll love my dress with the right hair. Finger's crossed....

It's still TBD how my hair will be clipped back because I didn't have the chiffon flowers yet. I ordered them from Oh My Deer this weekend. I can't wait to get them!

After the hair trial we went on over to VeKa, a bridal shop in Nolita, and bought Jen her hairpiece. I don't have a picture of it to post right now but I will soon. Her hair trial is this coming Saturday so I'll post some pix next Monday.

Overall it feels like we're making some more progress. We decided today to start Operation "This is SERIOUS 52" aka wedding boot camp. Jen coined the term and came up with the idea. Basically we have 13 weeks left until the big day so we need to get 52 workouts in before then, 4 times a week. We really super determined now. My sister gave me her Perfect Pushup yesterday (she used if before her wedding and the girl had GUNS!) and Nat sent on over the Women's Health Belly Off Club Workout today. Loving everyone for all the support and great ideas!

So here's what we have on tap for this week...
  • Sign off on the final proof for the invitations which we're expecting sometime today or tomorrow
  • Jen's hair trial Saturday
  • Make an appointment for a cake tasting...yummm! A little cake won't kill us, right? :)
  • And I have to get on over to M&J and some other stores the finally solve the shoe problem.
  • Oh and we still don't have a computer...it's at Apple for repair. I fear that the hard drive is corrupted which is an absolute disaster. I have a ton of wedding stuff on there that wasn't backed up and worst of all I think there are pictures of Antoinette that we don't have anywhere else. I'm praying that someone can recover that at least!

Hope you all had a great weekend and have a happy Monday!
