Swoosh

I don't know how to ski but these sure make me wish I did. I gave skiing a shot when I was very young. My father is a great skier and he decided to take me for the first time when I was about 11 years old. Big mistake. Can you say awkward???? My body didn't know which way it was going. I was really uncoordinated and I couldn't even get myself up the damn tug rope! I was completely humiliated. And it didn't help at all that my dad made fun of me and my little sister who is 4 years younger than me turned out to be a total natural at the sport and was swooshing down black diamonds on the first day. I was not a happy camper. Never again, I swore.

I did agree to give cross country skiing a shot a few years later on a family trip to Quebec. Brave right? I went with the same individuals as the first time. Don't know why I agreed to it but I ended up being pretty happy with how that went. But I never tried it again. Too scarred from my first skiing experience.

But these photos have me thinking. Maybe I can go get hypnotized and overcome my fears so I can give it another shot....:)

I see all these people loving skiing and I'm very jealous but had a similar experience to yours and said "never again, thanks" but now I would love to give it a go again, but I think it's something you should do as a kid not a grown up woman... people over 15 learning to ski? have you ever had a chance to look at them? funny! and awkward honestly! it's kind of painful!
These pictures are gorgeous though, no wonder you want to give it a go! if you decide to go for it, good luck!! let us know how it goes ;-)

I haven't been skiing in awhile (I prefer the chalet, truthfully), but these images are definitely inspiring.

Hahaha - I don't think it's quite so elegant - but I do love to ski. :)

I had a similar experience to you, except I skiied many years of my childhood before calling it quits!
Cross-country skiing sounds better. Less hills.
These pictures are tres sexy, I for sure wouldn't look like that if I went skiing now. :)

Oh my gosh these are so sexy, love them....where's the ski's.

That is too bad about your awful 1st experience honey, not fun at all.

i love these photos! they make skiing look so glamorous, but as an avid snowboarder, i've got to tell you, there's nothing glamorous about a high of 9 degrees - which is what it will be when i'm in vermont tomorrow. :) so not looking forward to it at this point.
i do think you should try it again though! maybe take a snowboarding lesson? it's harder to learn at first, but you can master it much more easily than skiing...or at least that was my experience.
