Transitional Threads

The temperature has been rising, and with that comes along the seasonal wardrobe woes. How do you dress for such weather. It's sunny & warm but there's still that little bite in the air. I'm still wanting to wear boots but I'm over my black tights, black jackets and black everything else. What's a girl to do?

Well I took one look at Galliano's Dior Fall 2010 show and now I'm suddenly feeling inspired. I have great boots in other colors besides black, in fact I own suede OTK boots just like the ones above, and I just loooove the look of pretty little dresses peaking out from underneath putty colored jackets.

What do you guys think? What are your favorite looks for transitional weather?

these are perfect. little patterned dresses with thigh-high boots! i love.
my transitional wear is kind of spotty...sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. last year, i wore skinny jeans and frye boots with sweaters in the winter, and skinny jeans and frye boots with either a sleeveless tee and a cardigan or a short sleeved shirt and cardigan in the spring. kind of boring, but i tried to make it work based on my limited budget. this year, i can't wait to buy platform sandals and finally, a comfy pair of flats.

boots are fun! i also like cropped jackets or 3/4 sleeve jackets and lighter, brighter scarves. glad to hear that the weather is continually getting better :)

Layers work for me so you can add and subtract as the temperature changes (usually as the sun sets).

Love that last pair of boots!

these colors are all over the place!

I'm actually still a little cold in this weather so I still like jeans and flats...

Lovely. You always find the most amazing photos inspiration. I am crushing on those over the knee boots.

It's still freezing here so no many choices, the usual, but I remember Barcelona was the worst for this time of the year, no tights, no no tights, one layer too much you get hot, one less it's cold, aaah! decisions!

I like that first dress and the blue one. They make me ache for spring, but I want summer to stay away (too hot in Texas).

Looks beautiful on the runway, but in real life in Manhattan? Not so sure. Collection had too much of the little georgette fluffy stuff for practical purposes for a Fall collection; edited and realized for NYC might mean slim slim skirt/pant, a normal little boot with lots of polish. Then, I think it's OK. xx's Marsha
(As shown, way cool for cocktail)

Oh the Dior collection was fantastic! And your dilemma is purely natural, i completely feel you on this :) It's the kind of weather that you still dress warmly for, but because it's not that cold, as soon as you walk 2 blocks, you're sweating like you just ran a marathon - the bane of my existence!

The thing that i like to do during this time of year: bust out all the things that are still cold weather wear but that aren't super conducive with wetness (aka snow on the ground), such as wide leg trousers, suede boots, leather coats, etc. Also, i've been wearing my trench coat a lot which kind of makes me feel like winter has gone. Just make sure you have a few layers underneath to prevent from freezing!

Also love the otk boots with floaty dresses. The perfect mix of winter and spring! Although i must say, i don't see anything wrong with all-black, no matter what season it is ;)
