Punchy Paradise

For the most part I'm a pretty neutral person when it comes to my wardrobe. Well black mostly, I do live in NYC so it's kind of a given, but with a decent amount of camel, white and some champagne and gold scattered in there.

But when I think of summer and tropical locations my mind instantly goes to bright, bold, punchy colors. When packing I tend to leave my black behind and reach for any bit of color that screams to me from my closet...green, pink, yellow & blue. All the colors come together in one rainbow colored pile on my bed. It's so funny but when I look down at that pile, I suddenly feel like a different person. Not the too busy to get everything accomplished in life girl that I usually feel like. The other me, the carefree vacation me. And I feel happy and lighter and instantly ready to roll. All the better for some fun in the sun :)

How about you guys? Do you go punchy for vacation or do you keep it clean, crisp, white and neutral?

I'm also pretty neutral on a daily basis... but definitely colour when on holiday! What colours are you wearing today?!

I love color! I don't really wear it all the time, but in the summer, and especially on vacation, I really try to. Except this year, because let's face it my maternity wardrobe is somewhat limited... :-(

It's funny how changing the color of our wardrobe changes our mood - but that is what is so lovely about fashion - so much can be expressed - love it! On vacation, I probably just wear more white or lighter colors and maybe a few pops of color I wouldn't normally wear. I do hope you're having a wonderful time on vacation. =)

The 2nd and 5th photos are my favs. Love that big beach hat! I've never had one, but I think it's about time. I just love the summer colors in the second to last photo. That bag is hot too!!

I'm the same...I try to kick it up a little when I'm going on vacation as it seems the basics are just too basic for a tropical location. I love that dress in the third photo!

I do both - really bright or all white and simple. The sunshine outside decides what is pulled out of the closet! Great photos! xoxo

I personally love the maxi dress (3rd picture), I'm fond of green, blue and yellow for summer. However I can't get away with black though, it's my colour especially I've run out of ideas (from my closet) to wear...

This is such a funny post, because I can totally relate. I am alwasy in a neutral mode at home, but on vacation, I get daring. I am trying to incorporate that into my daily life, so we shall see how it goes.

yes to bright, bold, punchy colors in everyday wear & vacation choices :) my closet is full of yellows, pinks, and purples, but sometimes i just want black or brown and face a dilemma! right now i'm loving a pink/melon color.

This is so true! I feel much more daring with color on vacation. Lately I've been trying to mix bright colors with neutrals and I've been really into the contrast! Hope you had a great weekend.

Nothing beats a classic white on the beach but there is a definitely a time and a place (vacation) for being colorful!

Hi Dawn, the long dress would be perfect for my post tomorrow for Catherine's family room redo (yes we're at it again). These wonderful colors look so much better on someone else, like someone much younger. :)
