Lighten Up

nullnullnull

Good morning, lovelies! And happy new year to you all! Hope that you all had a wonderful time ringing in the new year and that 2012 is off to a fabulous start.

A new year always signals new beginnings and this year I'm looking to make a bunch of changes. I'm not going to call them resolutions, but rather goals. For some reason I usually try harder to reach my goals. It's me being competitive with myself and I'm pretty good at that :)

Overall I'm looking to lighten up in terms of everything. Less clutter, lightening up the decor, less weight. You name it. I'm basically learning to let go of a lot of "stuff" I've held onto both physically and mentally over the years. I'm going to turn 40 this year and I think entering my 40s lighter will be a good thing.

How about all of you? Any goals/resolutions you wish to share? It takes a lot to set them and to try to achieve them. Also I'm interested in those of you that choose not to make resolutions. I respect that equally :)

Have a wonderful day and here's to an amazing start to the new year!

xoxo

I like your goals :) I tend to do that instead of resolutions, too.

these sound like very astute goals ... so turning 45 - as I am - I feel the same - less is more :) for me it will be less paid work - I'm tired of being the boss so to speak, less belongings - like you I feel weighed down by stuff, less time commuting - more time creating - creating what could be the question ... best le xox

I agree, I've been going around the house getting rid of things..I love how refreshed I feel with more space and un-used things being given a new home. I have goals too, to be more confident, travel to new places even if it's in the same country, and some other things!! I hope you reach all your goals & have a fun and blessed year!! xx

Too funny girl... today's blog post for myself talks about how I'm not doing resolutions b/c I never complete them or really look back at them. But, how I am going to accomplish a list of lifetime goals... two minds think alike! :) Lightening up sounds like a plan to me, it's so easy to hold memories, even distant memories close to your heat... even if it's a note on a napkin. Purge that shat girlfriend! xo

I'm not a new year's resolution person, but I like your goals as I think they are more lifestyle changing goals and these are on long-term, and this is what counts. Have a beautiful day, Dawn! xo

Living lighter is always a great goal. It allows space for the new and unexpected.

This is the first year I didn't set any resolutions, but like you have some goals that can be achieved with baby steps every day.

Happy 2012 Dawn! Hope you had a most fabulous holiday darling! I'm constantly purging my apt. so I can attest that lightening up is a great thing. Keeping it simple this year. I'm going to try my best to be positive and happy no matter what :)

Less clutter sounds like music in my ears.

I'm with Ada, long-term is better. I didn't make any resolutions; I'm just going to embrace what life throws at me.

Good luck lightening up! I think you started pretty well with these delightful photos ;-)

i do need to work on lightening up too, and not taking everything so seriously!

I totally have the same sentiments. That's why I put myself on a shopping freeze. It needed to be done to cut out the stuff in my life.

This post sure shows your mood for lightening up, that's a great goal. I've no particular resolutions, instead I try to not let myself get crazy about anything but to let it all happen in a relaxed way. Enjoying the good things in life and don't worry about the uncertain things :)
I hope you have a lightened up 40'th year!

Glad we are both into goals! I like the idea of approaching the year lighter - a lot of what I am aiming to do this year involves similar things. I recently have started to attack my closet and pull out the pieces I no longer need. If I really move in July, I do not want to move peices I no longer need or use - lighter will be greatly appreciated! My biggest goal is holding myself to moving - pursuing both across the city to my favorite neighborhood, or across the country to my favorite city. I have some time, but I need to stay on top of it to make sure it happens! Looks like I have a trip to the city to plan!
Much love,
B

I prefer to use the term "goals" as well and lightening up my clutter in my apt, computer, life, is also on my list. Less is more! Happy 2012 to you, can't wait to see you in the new year x

Darling Dawn! I CANNOT believe you are turning 40 lady! Your lil' thumbnail pic says to me that you don't look a day over 30! Seriously!

I hope you had a real blast over NY and that your 2012 is filled with all things amazing! I'm constantly trying to let go of things or am always beating myself up over stuff that now in hindsight wasn't worth my energy.

I've never really been one for setting resolutions at the new year, I try to better make small manageable improvement on a daily basis where possible. Sounds crazy but even if you're crossing things of your 'to-do' list, that's always an achievement.
If anything I'd like to be fitter and try and cut down on sugary things... I have such a sweet tooth! Oh and wipe my mac clean so it can run faster!

Just like u, I'm getting ready for many changes, but u know dear how they say- "the change happens when u don't expect it", so I'm not going to plan anything this year, I'll just "go with the flow"!:) Have a beautiful day!!!!!

Definitely agree with the lightness goal. I've started eating much lighter since the holidays are over and have even switched to lighter nail polish colors in the hopes that spring will come early! xo
