You Outta See The Pictures

nullnullnull

Good morning, sweets! Hope your week is off to a great start.

Mine certainly has been. Got to meet up with my favorite girl Shari last night while she's in town on a short visit. And also, tonight I'm off to watch The Artist with friends.

For the past few years J & I have had a pact/challenge with our friends to see all of the Oscar nominees for Best Picture. And, if there's any extra time, we try to catch all of the other nominations. {Wishful thinking as that has never been a reality...}

I really had my work cut out for me this year because I hadn't seen many at the time the nominations were announced. I'm starting to make a dent though. Here's how the playing field stands.

Best Picture Movies Seen
Midnight in Paris
The Help
Moneyball
{Also saw The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo & Bridesmaids which have nominess up for Actress in a Leading Role and Actress in a Supporting Role.}

Best Picture Movies Yet to See
The Artist {after tonight this will be a check!}
The Descendants
Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close
Hugo
The Tree of Life
Warhorse

So as you can see, I have quite the challenge in front of me. 6 movies in less than 3 weeks. And I'd like to squeeze in My Week With Marilyn and The Iron Lady as well. Wish me luck!

How about you all? Which nominated movies have you seen this year? Are you going to try to catch them all before the Oscars?

xoxo

I guess I've slacked with movies this year. The only one I saw on that list is The Help and surprisingly, I found it kind of boring. xo

I've only seen Midnight in Paris so far (and I loved it) and I'd like to see a few more from that list... But somehow I rarely get around to going to the movies...

Good Luck with that challenge, I bet you're gonna be able to do it :)

I need to see a few before the Oscars, too! Yikes, I need to make a list.

Fabulous challenge! I - sadly - have seen none of the nominees. Good luck fitting them in - sounds like you'll have a lot of fun date nights over the next three weeks!

I never get to see all the nominated films before the awards because some of them arrive in our cinemas after the ceremony. truth be told, nor would I like to see all of them, as I don't exactly see the Academy Awards as a barometer of the best movies of the previous year. I saw "Midnight in Paris", I'm a fan of Woody Allen's movies, and can't wait to see "The Artist".

Have a beautiful day, Dawn! xo

How funny. We have the same goal here on the island. Though a bit challenging as not all movies make it here. But the Artist and Iron Lady are also still on my list.

Enjoy them. :)

I don't think I've seen any of them. I actually don't like watching movies. But my husband LOVES it so I've seen a few as long as there is popcorn involved.

6 movies in less than 3 weeks is a lot. You and J. def. have your work cut out but at least it will be fun. Good luck! I've only seen The Help. Been really behind on films. We should totally do an NYC blogger meet-up sometime btw :)

Wow I applaude your goal! I've only seen 2, The Descendants and Incredibly Loud so far and want to see Iron Lady but don't think I'll be able to squeeze in many more. Good luck Dawn!

Ambitious plan lovely, but a nice one! Haven't been to the movies much but saw midnight in Paris (loved it) and the tree of life from your list. Really want to make it to the artist too - let's see!

That is a fabulous plan! I hope you manage to squeeze in as many as you can before the Oscars. I'd so much like to see The Artist and Hugo. Well, I would like to see all of these.

I haven't been to the cinema for ages. We have no one here to take care of the kids so hubby takes them to see the animated films and the two of us just wait for DVD releases. I just got back from the library with a stack of DVDs ;-)

Well I'm failing. I've only seen Moneyball, Midnight in Paris, and the Help. How to you watch them? Party w/ betting? Alone at home?

Gorgeous Glam said...

I hopoe you make your list! I have to admit I haven't seen as many as I'd like to either!! xx

I don't watch movies as much as I use too, I guess if you have a movie that you think it is worth watching, let me know.

Unknown said...

Dawn, this is too funny. We've seen and not seen the exact same movies. I really want to see The Artist and Warhorse. My son read Hugo....I'm interested to see how they turned it into a movie.

Best part about the Oscars....the clothes and the red carpet!!

i thought Midnight In Paris was so enchanting!! Good luck on watching the rest!

Oh - Fancy That.

i have a feeling these awards have become so politically correct because there are some amazing movies out there that don't get recognized... i'm happy the artist is getting all the recognition!

Hi Dawn,

Good luck with getting through your list of movies to watch.
I watched Midnight in Paris, coming back on the plane, which I loved. There are some on your list that I look forward to seeing too.

Enjoy the rest of the week

Oh Midnight in Paris has my eyes and heart totally, but I do have the softest spot for The Help. I saw The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo--very, very graphic. (And not just that erm, rape scene, but the CAT!!) Bridesmaids was beyond hysterical. They're actually showing Moneyball at my school soon, and I really want to read and see Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close.

Lila said...

I want to see the descendent, I heard so many wonderful things aout it. Bridesmaid is just too funny (great for a non thinking night)

Jennifer of JennySue Makeup said...

Since I have 3 kids- getting to go to the movies is a rarity, so the only one I've seen is Bridesmaids-kinda pitiful huh?? guess i'll be watching the oscars just to look at the fashion and rooting for Bridesmaids!! It was hilarious and would totally watch it again- love a good comedy over a drama any day!

I do the same! I'm a big movie geek...love em. But I've been a slacker this year. I also see the nominated animated short films and the regular short nominees.
I've been away from the blog due to a devastating event, but glad to be back and start my morning off with your lovely blog. Thanks, Dawn.
