Our Wedding - Ceremony Part Three

We choose three readings to be read by significant people in our lives that were not in our wedding party. Our sister-in-law Beverly read a poem called True Love right before our vows.

TRUE LOVE
True love is a sacred flame
That burns eternally,
And none can dim its special glow
Or change its destiny.
True love speaks in tender tones
And hears with gentle ear,
True love gives with open heart
And true love conquers fear.
True love makes no harsh demands
It neither rules nor binds,
And true love holds with gentle hands The hearts that it entwines.

After the vows, our longtime family friend Susan read The Wedding Vow.

THE WEDDING VOW
You are not the air that I breathe, You are the sweet scent that drifts upon it. You are not the sounds that I hear, You are the music of my life. You are not my will to survive, You are my reason for living. It is with you that I experience the wonders of the world. It is with you that I triumph over the challenges in my path. It is your partnership that leads me to the fulfillment of my dreams. It is your friendship that guides me as I grow and learn. It is your patience and wisdom that calms my restless nature. It is through you that I know my true self. I do not take you for granted, I cherish you. I do not need you I choose you. I choose you today in witness of all the people who love us. I choose you tomorrow in the privacy of our hearts. I choose you in strength and weakness, I choose you in health and sickness. I choose you in joy and sorrow. I will choose you, over all others, every day for all the days of my life.

Next up was the Ring Ceremony.

You are my true love and my best friend and with this ring, I thee wed. May it be a reminder of my love and the sacred commitment I make here today.

Our last reading, What Is Love?, was then read by our brother-in-law, John.

WHAT IS LOVE?
Sooner or later we begin to understand that love is more than verses on valentines and romance in the movies.
We begin to know that love is here and now, real and true, the most important thing in our lives. For love is the creator of our favorite memories and the foundation of our fondest dreams. Love is a promise that is always kept, a fortune that can never be spent, a seed that can flourish in even the most unlikely of places.
And this radiance that never fades, this mysterious and magical joy, is the greatest treasure of all - one known only by those who love.

Next up - some personal closing remarks, the benediction & the pronouncement!
