Monday Morning

Good Monday morning, lovelies. How was your weekend? I have a very restful and relaxing weekend and I'm happy to say I'm finally feeling 100%. I think I was a bit run down there by all the summer fun I had been having and my body just needed a rest.

This weekend was all about remembrance for me. Saturday J & I went up to le Parker Meridien, the hotel where we got married a little over 2 years ago. We had brunch at Norma's, one of the best brunch spots in NYC, walked around the hotel and took some photos, and even had a cocktail at Knave, where we had cocktails with our friends and family the night before we got married. It brought us right back to that special time 2 years ago.

After we walked on down Fifth Avenue and happened to stumble upon the FDNY 9/11 Memorial at St. Patrick's Cathedral. I had no idea it was going on but I felt like there was a reason that we ended up there. It was so incredibly moving and brought me back 10 years instantly. Yesterday was a day a somber reflection and remembrance.

This morning I've woken feeling incredibly rested and serene. Feeling fortunate and proud. Fortunate for my life. Proud of my city and proud of this country. I'm going to carry this feeling for a very long time.

I felt so silly to be online and doing any sort of social media, so I spent the day relaxing. Even in my darkest days, I am still so lucky.
I'm so pleased you had a good day as well. And what an experience you had. Amazing!

Goodness, to be in NYC must have been so moving and emotional. I mean, it was all over the country, but to be so close must have been much different.

That first image is absolutely beautiful.

Good morning Dawn, love these images {as always}! I think you're right, there was a reason you weren't supposed to be at the beach. I'm so glad you had a chance to revisit your romantic wedding and also the deeper roots and bigger picture that we all share. I think it was a really emotional weekend for a lot of us.

Aw what a sweet post. I know yesterday was kind of weird for me. There were moments of reflection, but also the day went on just like any other. Between the 9/11 posts, there were the typical silly ones as well. I guess this must kind of be how others have felt after major events (like the bombing of Pearl Harbor).

This is such an amazing post, Dawn. I get chills every time I even read the words 9/11...seriously moves up and down my spine, and then the tears well up in my eyes. I can't imagine what it must have been/be like to be in New York during it all. Your weekend sounds very needed and peaceful and I'm happy you had that time to reflect. I love restful weekends. Isn't it funny when we sometimes stop and realize even fun can be wearing on our bodies? I often think I can go go go and do all kinds of things on my days off but sometimes I just need to take a day of relaxation, which I LOVE doing and I crave so often. Such a sweet post and may your week be equally serene!

I agree with you - it was definitely a weekend of reflection. My husband and I watched several 9/11 documentaries, and I found myself feeling incredibly sad but incredibly thankful for the life I've lived. I'm glad everyone came together to reflect this weekend - we needed it.
