Style Strategy

Hello, lovelies! Hope your week is off to a wonderful start!

I'm getting ready for a major wardrobe overhaul and have decided to try to be a bit more minimalistic in my approach. I have a ton of clothes and if I had a closet the size of a room everything would be fine but that's not the case. I can barely get into my closet so I'm in desperate need of a change, and quick one!

For me, style starts with being comfortable in your own skin. If I had to define my style I'd call it classic with a glamorous twist. I like to mix classic pieces with trendier items. All in all it's worked for me but the amount that I own is starting to get a bit overwhelming. Time for a change!

I've decided to invest in well constructed pieces that speak to my signature style. I've always done this but I have to learn to be a bit more restrained in the amount of purchases. All I really need is a strong foundation. And accessories, as always, will continue to be a must. And the details really do make all the difference in the world, don't they?

So this is my challenge for the fall. Wish me luck!

I'd love to know, how do you go about building your wardrobe?

Love that first image, me wants.

Sounds like you have a challenge on your hands lady... Now that i'm less frivolous with fashion, I tend to go for pieces I know will have longevity and can at least play mash up in a multitude of looks. But good quality classic items are a must too.
your wardrobe should only ever contain pieces that make you feel good all.the.time!

p.s That said I always have comfy Tees & plenty of jeans for lounging in!

I always go for classic pieces that will last me for saesons and update them with more trendy accessories, because you're right, it's all in the details and more importantly, this is what works for me. I'm sure you'll have fun with your fall challenge, Dawn. xo

Oh Dawn this speaks volumes to me! I'm all about having those "classic" "staples" and then like you said accessorizing! As many layers and I love to pile on there's nothing as striking as a mod, minimal, confident woman! Much luv!

Good luck darling!! I wish I had a bigger wardrobe too. I try and stick to what I use, but it can be tough!! Hope your day continues well! xx

I would agree with you 100% ... I have also learnt to buy few but versatile pieces. Some can even cross over seasons. Solid colors, plain blouses, jackets are always good investments! :)

Love that coat above Dawn! A good coat is so important for the cold season! And a few great peieces that are easy to combine make daily dressing so much easier! Last winetr, i came to love knitted dresses - they look great with boots and can be styled over and over again! Have fun shopping!

Love these gorgeous photos! I build my wardrobe on fabrics. Soft cardigans and sweaters and silks of dresses..
Just want to say, your 9/11 tribute was touching

I desperately need to revamp my closet and invest in a few more staple pieces. Spending a little more usually ends up serving you well. Good luck, lady!!

My winter wardrobe is more minimalistic than the summer one but I also need desperately an updating! I always say YES to the accessories.

The shorts are amazing! With the summer heat all I want to wear are shorts. So comfy!

Have a lovely day.

Mine needs a major overhaul- I have way too much crammed into such a small closet and I barely wear any of it. I'm with you on a few great classic pieces- can't wait to see what you get!

I'm trying to limit the number of pieces I buy this season too, just to keep things simpler and more organized. We'll see how it goes! Would love to see some posts on what you end up getting :)

Necklaces/bracelets are great...the really help live-up/complete an outfit. I'm going fall shopping too and I always end up spending more than I want. Sigh...

I'm thinking of doing the same thing this fall! Out with the cluttered and in with the classic, structured pieces! That jacket is divine!

This should be every girl's mantra... alas I am a complete magpie and fall so easily to the rush of consumerism especially in regards to shopping. For now I am content to slowly (by slowly I mean 3-4 pieces a year) build my high quality, perfectly fitted wardrobe and fill in the rest with basics from H&M, Zara, and gasp, even Forever. xo

Well that is great you have a goal on how to approach your fall wardrobe! I just went shopping today and found a few things, but I feel a bit scattered with my style. I really need to stick to one specific style!

I hope you are having a great week! xo

I usually make a list of items that I want/need for the season. Then, I try to think about how well those items will pair with other things I own. I try to purchase clothing that I love and that will last forever.

I'm just getting into closet cleaning mode myself.

I've gotten a little pickier about what I'll bring home.

On the other hand, I've gone from "neutrals only" to every color under the sun, so the closet is bright and packed at the moment.
